Ozone Production by Corona Discharges

Ozone entertainment has been measured for point-to-plane corona electrodes in an insulating flow channel. Electrodes with 16 mm point-to-plane spacing were set at AC and positive/negative DC voltages and exposed to gas flows from 0.3 m/s to 3.3 m/s in air. The ozone yield in grams per coulomb (g/C) of charge transferred in the discharge was found to be constant, yet with different values for the various modes of corona.
