Use and Application of MIL-HDBK- 217

This paper addresses misconceptions and frequently asked questions about the proper use and application of MIL-HDBK-217, "Reliability Prediction of Electronic Equipment." Included in this paper are discussions of the purpose of the handbook, supporting data base, failure rate models, reliability predictions, and handbook limitations, along with supporting references. Current status and future plans are also highlighted.
